Road trip - A journey to somewhere

If you are the person who enjoys the distance more than a destination, then a road trip is the best thing for you to do in life. There are different types of roamers exists in this world. Some like to travel by public transport, some by cars but traveling by motorcycle is the best way to experience and explore the world around you. So with the heart full of enthusiasm and filled with love for the automobile, we decided to experience our first ever road trip on our motorcycles.

The thought of a motorcycle road trip only is enough to make me excited. But this road trip was not the usual road trip for me, we three persons were going on two motorcycles and I was about to be a pillion. Then you must be wondering that what would be the reason behind my excitement of being a pillion. The reason was, something was waiting for me on the other end. It was a chilled Sunday morning of December and we were ready to hit the road with our winter wears on at around 7:30 in the morning. So, we left at around 7:30 in the morning and hit the highway in about half an hour. It was a nice cold, pleasant and perfect weather to ride on a motorcycle. We reached the destination in about two hours while taking a couple of tea and snacks break.

Finally, we reached the destination and I've reached to the reason of my excitement, the stunning Yamaha YZF R15 V 2.0 with Red and black color scheme and I was about to ride it on the way back to my hometown. First ever road trip on a sport bike and I was getting mad by the excitement. The motorcycle is powered by 150 CC oil cooled single cylinder engine, which is a smaller engine than the motorcycle I was riding before and obviously a smaller than the other two with whom I was riding. And it was the first time that I was about to ride this kind of motorcycle with supersport sitting position.

So, we had lunch and left Baroda for the way back to Gandhinagar. Boy oh boy, I was super excited to start this ride. It was around 1 o'clock in the noon and the sun was on our head. We were feeling a little bit of heat but the excitement of riding actually makes you forget everything. First thing I noticed about this R15 that the riding position was just amazing, the feeling I was getting like I am sitting inside the bike not on it and the analog and digital cockpit was just sensational. The second most beautiful thing about this motorcycle is the engine, I have to say that this is the butter smooth refined engine from the Yamaha. This engine surpasses all the motorcycles I have ridden before in terms of engine refinement and smoothness. There is no vibration at all at any point of the rev band. The engine can rev all up to the redline in every gear. And the way it makes a throaty sound past 6000 RPM it's just cracking. Being a motorcycle with a longer swing-arm as compared to other motorcycles, it provides great handling and stability on the road. Of course, if you compare this R15 with the Duke 250 and mighty classic 500, the power and torque are considerably low. But believe me, on the highway, it leaves Duke and Classic 500 way behind in terms of top speed. Due to naked nature and lack of windscreen on both motorcycle, makes it difficult to hold and reach the top speed. The Duke 250 was able to reach something above 115 kmph but holding this speed for a long time was tiresome due to the massive wind-blast on the highway. And when it comes to Royal Enfiled, 100 kmph is the limit. Anything about that is really scary on that motorcycle. That bike is not made for doing top speed but you can cruise at the speed of 80-90 kmph for all day long without any issue. But on the other hand, the 150 cc R15 did 132 kmph without any drama. Also because of full fairing and windscreen, it was pretty easy to cruise at 100-110 without any buffeting. The motorcycle is really made for the highway and tracks to utilize its high-end torque.

The journey was running pretty smooth and we were enjoying our ride. On this journey, we also met a group of superbikes. The group was shining with the huge superbikes like Suzuki Hayabusa, Honda CBR 1000, Harleys, BMW and many more. We stopped at the Honest restaurant for the snacks break and we finished the whole stretch with just single break and we reached the Gandhinagar by evening 4:00 pm.

Being a first road trip, we kept it short and simple. But it was a real fun and best way to explore the world around you. In just near future, we'll sure plan furthermore exploration on the best man-made machines.
